Albania is the upcoming travel destination. You have probably seen it all over your social media labelling it as the Maldives of Europe. Now, we have not been to the Maldives (yet!) but we have been to Albania and I can tell you it is beautiful. We fell in love with Albania from the minute we stepped off the plane. During our Albanian adventure, we spent a week in Sarande. Think white beaches, crystal clear water and a fraction of the price of Greece! I mean what more could you want?
If you love a beach holiday but also love the bustle of a city then Barcelona is the place to visit. This beautiful city is full of charm, pulling you around the labyrinth of art, tapas and enchanting architecture. When you are done soaking up the culture and eating tapas then you can escape to the beach and soak up the sun. Barcelona is a wonderful city to visit with kids and they will never be short of things to do!
Stockholm Archipelago, Sweden
If you are looking to escape then look no further than the Stockholm Archipelago. Just 30 minutes away from the bustle of the Swedish capital lies a world of 30,000 islands. Whilst it is less known to the British holiday makers, the Archipelago is a popular escape for the residents of Stockholm. We visited back in 2017 for our honeymoon and we felt like we were a million miles away from normality.
Bodrum, Turkey
A taste of the Middle East with a Mediterranean twist. If you are looking for an introduction to Turkey then Bodrum is a great place to start. Bustling markets, blue waters, pirate ships and endless Turkish kebabs! It's also a great place for budget travel.
Algarve, Portugal
We travelled around Portugal this year during our 3 month European road trip and the one place that the kids still talk about is our time in the Algarve. With it's sunny climate, beautiful beaches and breathtaking sunsets it is not hard to understand why the Algarve is a top travel destination in Europe.
