Since making the decision last year to sell our stuff, leave our jobs and live full time in our self-converted van, we have visited over 10 countries on our worldschooling adventure.

Whilst we still have a huge slice of the world to explore, we have visited some amazing worldschooling destinations. Countries that are full of culture, history and natural beauty.
We have explored the snow capped mountains of the Albanian Alps, swam in crystal clear waters in Turkey and surfed waves in Portugal.

If you are thinking about worldschooling, or looking for a top destination to travel to with children, read on to discover our top 5 worldschooling destinations...

1. Spain
We visited Spain on our 3 month European road trip and ended up spending over a month exploring this beautiful country. Spain is a perfect place to visit for the ultimate worldschooling adventure. From the gorgeous beaches of the south coast to the bustling city life of Barcelona and Seville, Spain offers such rich culture for children to experience.

Due to the country being such a popular tourist destination in the summer months, the best time to visit Spain is out of season during the winter months. We visited the country during January and February and the weather was beautiful. Perfect if you are looking for winter sun!

Spain has a huge worldschooling community therefore if you are wanting a hub experience or international school experience, you will not be short of places to choose from. Alternatively, if you are not looking for that kind of experience, Spain offers a variety of things you can do with your children. Our boys particularly loved practising their Spanish with the locals, searching the beaches for washed up treasures and trying out the variety of Tapas on offer!

Spain provided such a cultural and immersive experience for our boys, we cannot wait to return!

2. Albania
We love Albania so much that we have visited twice in less than 1 year! If you are looking for an authentic, culture rich worldschooling experience then Albania is the place to visit. It is a country that is packed with history and natural beauty. The locals welcomed our boys with open arms and took them in as one of their own.
Albania is such a diverse country from the snow capped mountains of the Albanian Alps, to the tranquil beaches of the south and everything in between. It can be quite overwhelming knowing where to start when visiting this country which is why I have listed our best places to visit in our Albania Travel Guide.

3. Portugal
We travelled down the West coast of Portugal during our 3 month European road trip and it was one of the most beautiful adventures to date. The sunsets alone are a good enough reason for you to visit Portugal, let alone the friendly locals, gnarly waves and the most delicious Pasteis de Natas that you will not be able to resit!

Some of our favourite places to visit in Portugal were Peneda-Gerês National Park, Peniche, Nazaré and the Algarve. The boys particularly enjoyed the surfing museum at Nazaré, learning about how the underwater canyon creates some of the biggest waves in the world.

Like Spain, Portugal has a large worldschooling community with many worldschooling families flocking to the country all year around. There are many worldschooling hubs and worldschooling meet ups across the country, offering a variety of different immersive experiences.

4. Turkey
Our first experience of Turkey was incredible and made us wonder why it took us so long to visit! We had a slightly different experience in Turkey, booking a hotel room for 3 weeks. This meant we had the luxury of a swimming pool and hotel room as well as the immersive experience exploring the area around us. Despite this luxury, we booked this trip on a very tight budget, spending about £20 a night on accommodation.

We spent 3 exciting weeks exploring the enchanting city of Bodrum, a fantastic destination if you are visiting Turkey for the first time. Overlooking the glistening Aegean sea, Bodrum city is full of character and charm. You will not be short of exciting things to do when visiting here.

Our boys particularly enjoyed setting sail on one of the many boat rides along the marina, sampling some of the most delicious Turkish cuisine and wandering through the charming gardens of Bodrum Castle.

5.Belgium
Having never been before, we honestly did not know what to expect when we visited Belgium during our 3 month European trip. We loved it! Belgium is the ultimate place for chocolate lovers and my boys had the time of their lives! I cannot count the amount of hot chocolates slurped and chocolates nibbled during our time in Belgium. What's even better is the Belgian beer selection for the parents to sip on!

During our time in Belgium we explored the beautiful city of Bruges which is an absolute must when visiting Belgium! We also spent some time on the coast, taking part in data collection activities for marine life and playing on the most epic beach play pirate ship!
These have been some of our favourite worldschooling destination spots in Europe so far. Make sure to check out our Instagram and Facebook page to follow our journey and see where our next adventure takes us!
